in the first ever Black West Heritage Festival, in 1971, in
Harlem. He wanted everyone to know there were "brother cowboys".

Americans. He was the highest African
American Army officer in the late 1800's...he was a Buffalo Soldier
hero...scholar...artist...civil rights leader...and forefather of todays
over 200 African American Generals.
